A Note From Dr. Kristin

Hello! I’m Dr. Kristin L.H. McGue. My patients call me Dr. Kristin.

Life is hard. Especially when you are trying to do life while also sorting through difficult feelings, complicated relationships, and understanding who you are and what you want. Teens and young adults are often doing all of the above and sometimes even more. Despite the best efforts of themselves and those who support them, they are at times lacking the tools needed to navigate this time in their life. If this is you (or your child), you may feel like you’ve run out of good ideas for how to get yourself (or them) living a life that is closer to what you want for yourself (or them). I fully appreciate this rough place you're in; we’ve all been there at least once.

It is my belief that when experiencing life’s difficulties, the best solutions are built on the values and goals of the individual and/or family. I am passionate about supporting young people and their families in understanding what's important to them as well as developing coping skills so that they can live a life of value and fulfillment. I have years of experience doing just that; creating a validating space for teens and young adults to explore their thoughts/emotions, develop skills for coping and change, and achieve their version of better. I help adolescents, young adults, and those who support them address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and social problems including, but not limited to, depression/mood disorders, self-harm behaviors, anxiety, posttraumatic stress reactions, ADHD, peer and family relationship issues, noncompliance, self-esteem, underachievement, school behavior, and life stressors.

So, yes. Life is hard and change can be difficult too, but the path to better is just one step away. If you believe that your, your family's, or your child's life could be improved by supportive, change-focused therapy, I invite you to contact me today! Better can start here.
